Landscape Gardener

Karen works as part of NVL’s Maintenance team.

What do you do at NVL?
I am a Landscape Gardener and my role is to assist in garden maintenance at Olive Estate Lifestyle Village.

Why did you decide to start a career in landscape gardening?
I decided to take up garden maintenance many years ago when my husband was in the industry. He was a real influence on my choice as he always came back home in such a positive mood. That made me curious and it seemed just right for me as I love the nature and being outside.

How have you developed personally and professionally at NVL?
Since I have started with NVL, I have developed many new skills in machine operation to a professional standard. I am now able to maintain different areas in the gardens at Olive Estate including pruning, hedge trimming and fertilising.
Personally I can say that working at Olive Estate makes me very happy and I enjoy the chats I can have with the residents. Hearing positive feedback from them is very uplifting and motivates me each day to come back to work.

What do you love about landscape gardening?
I love what I do and finishing a job and being able to look back and see the results is just awesome.

Best thing about NVL?
Best of all is the team at NVL. Everyone is so friendly and can take my sense of humor.
